![]() The other possible cause of low voltage would be the reversal of the polarity of the auxiliary field winding at the rectifier that supplies it. This resistor may be under the cover on the end of the generator itself rather than in the control box. If the connection between the band and the resistor fails (common occurrence with a bit of corrosion), the generator will either not build up at all, or the voltage will be low when it does build up. This would have a movable metal band around it, to allow for adjustment. There could be an adjustable field regulating resistor present. Could be a couple of different reasons for this- first, make sure that your instrumentation is reading correctly.
